The Santamaria Collective @ Webster Hall  12~9~09

New Music Event “Santamaria Collective” Brings Art & the Spirit of Giving Together
Local Music Event and Toy Drive @ Webster Hall in NYC, 12.9.09

New York, NY – November 30, 2009   Irizarry Santamaria, the Director of Best Buy's wildly successful Live @ Best Buy artist showcase, is kicking off the 1st annual live music and charity event called "The Santamaria Collective" featuring 4 killer bands, 1 world-class DJ and 1 captivating poet/writer at Webster Hall in New York City. As it is so close to the holidays, Santamaria is asking audience members to bring new, unwrapped toys to the event, which will be given to the children at Harlem Hospital & several homeless shelters in New York City. Doors open at 7pm with an 8pm showtime at the Studio in Webster Hall on Wednesday, December 9th, 2009.

As a musician himself, Santamaria knows the plight of the independent artist trying to find footing in the music world and has become acquainted with many of the rock solid performers who have blessed his stage at Best Buy and monthly events in the Studio at Webster Hall. Santamaria states, “It's been an amazing year. Promoting local bands and independent artists hustling to be heard in the industry has been a dream opportunity. This night will feature some of my personal and musical favorites. We also have a chance warm the hearts of some kids who are going through a rough time. Music, poetry, love...What more do we need?"

The line-up for the 1st Santamaria Collective includes 2 bands from Brooklyn (Dynasty Electric and Zigmat), 1 band from the South Bronx (Rebel Diaz), and 1 band from Tel Aviv, Israel (Terry Poison).  Also featured will be the powerful poet Jani "Bomba" Rose and effervescent House & Hip-Hop DJ Ron Zilla. The event will broadcast live on www.Circa95.com by Hip Hop duo PattyDukes and Rephstar of Circa ’95.

The artists to perform are:
Dynasty Electric (independent) – electro-punkrock duo Seth Misterka (electric guitar, keys, sax, computers) and Jenny DeVeau (lead vocals, keys, theremin).  Their music has been compared to the Yeah, Yeah, Yeahs and described as “Blondie on acid”.  www.dynastyelectric.net <http://www.dynastyelectric.net>

Zigmat (Ultra / Musica Actua) – electronica-trip hop-funk-world rolled into one, this band is fronted by power duo Monica Rodriguez (vocals, keys, guitar) and Stephen Yonkin (bass guitar) and are signed to Ultra Records in Brazil and Musica Actua in Spain.  Their debut full-length “Sounds of Machines” was released last April and has gotten rave reviews from the likes of Billboard Magazine and Skope.  www.zigmat.com <http://www.zigmat.com>

They were the opening act for Depeche Mode on their opening tour concert last May.  www.terrypoison.com <http://www.terrypoison.com>
